Terms and conditions
Free for everyone, with a few fair rules.
Last updated
These terms apply when you use Bhartiya Map (bhartiyamap.com). By using the site you accept them, so please read them: they are short.
The service
Bhartiya Map is a free website for finding PIN codes, post offices and villages in India, and for viewing and downloading maps of India. There is no account and nothing to pay. We may change, pause or stop any part of it at any time.
Not a government website
Bhartiya Map is independent. It is not run by, endorsed by or affiliated with India Post (the Department of Posts), the Survey of India or any other part of the Government of India. Government data on this site is republished under the Government Open Data License – India. For tracking, a lost parcel or a complaint about a post office, contact India Post.
Information, not a guarantee
We check and clean the government data before publishing it (see how), but it can still contain mistakes, and India Post opens, closes and renumbers offices from time to time. Everything on the site is provided "as is", for general information, without any warranty. Before relying on a PIN code for something important, such as an official form, a legal notice or a valuable parcel, confirm it with India Post.
Maps and boundaries
Maps on Bhartiya Map are for finding post offices and places. They are not authoritative boundary maps and must not be used as evidence of any international, state, district or property boundary. India's external boundaries are drawn to follow the Government of India's position; for official boundaries, refer to the Survey of India.
Using our content
- You may use the site for any lawful purpose, personal or professional: look things up, print pages and share links.
- The three maps of India on our home page are free to download, print and share, with credit to Bhartiya Map.
- PIN code, post office and village data comes from government open data. If you need it in bulk, download it free from data.gov.in under its licence instead of copying it from this site.
- The Survey of India's maps on our Download maps page belong to the Government of India and are only linked from here. To reproduce one, follow the Survey of India's copyright policy.
- Base maps (© OpenStreetMap contributors) and satellite imagery (© Esri and its partners) are subject to their owners' terms.
- The site's own text, design, logo and code belong to Bhartiya Map. Please don't copy them or pass them off as yours.
Fair use
Please don't:
- use the site for anything unlawful;
- scrape the site or send it automated traffic that slows it down for others;
- try to break into, overload or disrupt the site or the services it uses;
- present Bhartiya Map, or a copy of it, as an official government service.
We may block traffic that harms the site.
Other websites and services
The site uses services run by others, such as Photon by komoot for place search and addresses, OpenFreeMap for map tiles and Esri for satellite imagery, and links to others, such as Google Maps, India Post, the Survey of India and data.gov.in. Their own terms and privacy policies apply, and we are not responsible for their content or availability.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Bhartiya Map is not liable for any loss or damage arising from using, or being unable to use, the site or its information, including mail sent to a wrong PIN code or decisions based on a map. Nothing in these terms excludes a liability or a right that Indian law does not allow to be excluded.
Privacy
Our privacy policy explains what the site sends and stores. It forms part of these terms.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest change, and using the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
